How to play Google Snake 3D
Google Snake 3D is the classic snake game rebuilt on a floating 3D island. You steer a snake around a checkered board, eat fruit to grow longer and try to fill as much of the board as you can without hitting a wall, an obstacle or your own body. A toggle in the top-right corner switches between the 3D view and a flat 2D board, so you can play whichever way you see the grid best.
Controls
Arrow keys or W A S D turn the snake.
Space, P or Esc pause the run.
On a phone or tablet, swipe in the direction you want to go.
Scoring and combos
Every piece of fruit is one point and one extra body segment. Eat the next fruit within about three and a half seconds and the bite counts as a combo: the sound climbs in pitch and the popups grow, and at a five-bite streak the board flashes a colour ring. Settings let you put 1, 3 or 5 fruits on the board at once, or roll a dice for a random count each run.
12 modes to unlock
Classic is open from the start. The other modes unlock by the total number of apples you have eaten across all games, and your progress is saved in the browser:
Wall (5 apples): a stone block appears on the board after every bite.
Portal (15): two linked portals teleport the snake from one to the other.
Cheese (30): your body has gaps, so you can pass through every second segment.
Borderless (50): leave one edge and come back on the opposite side.
Twin (75): after each bite you take control of the other end of the snake.
Yin-Yang (105): a pale mirror snake copies you on the opposite side, and touching it ends the run.
Key (140): fruit sits behind a locked gate until you collect the key.
Sokoban (180): no fruit at all; you score by pushing a crate into a hole.
Poison (225): two poisoned fruits share the board, and one bite is game over.
Stones (275): rocks are scattered across the board before you start.
Blender (330): every run mixes two random modes together.
Boards, themes and skins
Pick a slow, normal or fast speed and a small 12×10, classic 17×15 or big 22×19 board. The island has eight scenery themes (Day, Dusk, Night, Sakura, Snow, Ember, Aurora and Galaxy), several tile colours and twelve kinds of fruit, from apples and cherries to pineapples. Six snake colours are free and the rest, including rainbow, Google-colour, fire, ocean, gold and candy skins, unlock every ten apples.
Tips
Learn on the big board at normal speed: more space means more time to plan each turn.
Run along the edges and fold back in tight rows so your tail leaves open lanes behind you.
In Twin mode, check where your tail is before each bite, because that is where you will be steering next.
Chase combos only when the next fruit is close; a long detour for a streak is how most runs end.
